Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and Global Data Flows
In 2003 the Centre and its members identified APEC as a promising venue to establish a flexible, harmonized approach to governing global data flows and in 2004 began to work with the APEC Privacy Subgroup. Today, the Centre takes a lead role in promoting and shaping activities to further practical implementation of the APEC Privacy Framework. The Centre has also begun to take the new concepts developed in APEC to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), encouraging dialogues, conducting seminars and working with European organizations as the forum considers ways to make its privacy guidelines more effective in a digital economy.
