Centre for Information Policy Leadership

Government Use of Private Sector Data

Government use of private sector data can help protect our national security and manage risk associated with delivery of government services. This use of information also has the potential to erode public confidence in businesses as stewards of information and in the government’s ability to exercise discipline in its use. The Centre’s principals serve on government panels, participate in government workshops, and develop papers to inform policymakers about the tension resulting from sharing of information between the public and private sector.
