CIPL in Singapore: Exploring Trustworthy Agentic AI and Good Digital Regulation

This July, CIPL heads to Singapore for two timely and thought-provoking conversations at the forefront of digital policy and emerging technology. Bringing together leading voices from industry, government, academia, and civil society, these events will explore some of the most pressing questions shaping the future of AI governance, data use, and innovation-friendly regulation across Asia-Pacific and beyond.

Trustworthy Agentic AI: Data Governance for the Next Generation of AI

Wednesday, 22 July, 2026 | 4:00PM – 5:15PM SGT

As agentic AI systems continue to evolve, organizations and regulators alike are exploring both the opportunities they create for innovation and the challenges they raise around governance, privacy, accountability, and trust. While existing data protection principles remain highly relevant, how they should be interpreted, applied, and operationalized for agentic AI remains a live issue.

Please join the Centre for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL), Google, and Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) for a multistakeholder discussion on the margins of IAPP Asia Forum to explore the evolving intersection of agentic AI and data use. Bringing together perspectives from industry, regulators, and policy experts, this discussion will examine emerging trends, practical governance challenges, and evolving approaches to responsible development and deployment of agentic AI systems.

The Innovation Exchange on Good Digital Regulation

Thursday, 23 July 2026 | 3:30PM – 6:00PM SGT

Across the Asia-Pacific region, regulators are increasingly being looked to as designers of digital frameworks that take privacy, AI accountability, and platform governance seriously while remaining attentive to the conditions in which responsible innovation can take root. The Innovation Exchange brings together regulators, policymakers, academics, and senior privacy and AI leaders from APAC and beyond for an in-depth conversation on what good digital regulation looks like in practice — drawing on regional experience to distill what is working, what has required iteration, and what good practice should look like as new technologies test the design assumptions of established frameworks.

Program at a Glance:

  • 3:00PM – 3:30PM – Networking coffee and registration
  • 3:30PM – 3:40PM – Opening Remarks
  • 3:40PM – 4:00PM – Keynote Address
  • 4:10PM – 4:50PM – Fireside Chat 1 – Pro-innovation Regulation in APAC and Beyond
  • 4:50PM – 5:10PM – Break
  • 5:10PM – 5:50PM – Fireside Chat 2 – Looking Ahead: Good Regulatory Practice for ADM and Agentic AI
  • 5:50PM – 6:00PM – Closing Remarks

The two fireside conversations will move from the present to the near horizon. The first will examine how APAC regulators are operationalising pro-innovation regulatory design today. The second will turn to the harder question: as decision-making becomes both more automated and more autonomous, what does good regulatory practice for these emerging areas look like?

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Bojana Bellamy, President, Centre for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL)
  • Yeong Zee Kin, Chief Executive, Singapore Academy of Law (SAL)
  • Hiroki Habuka, Research Professor, Graduate School of Law, Kyoto University
  • Kyoungsic Min, Country Leader (South Korea), IAPP; Privacy Counsel and Asia Regional Lead, VeraSafe
  • Royce Wee, APAC Advocacy, Privacy and Data Policy Director, Meta

Additional speakers from regulatory authorities across APAC and Europe will be announced shortly.
