José Alejandro Bermúdez

José Alejandro Bermúdez is Partner at Bermúdez & Esguerra Abogados (Colombia). He was the inaugural Data Protection Superintendent in Colombia at the SIC where he contributed to drafting the current Colombian data protection law (2012), its secondary regulations, and the Colombian Privacy Accountability Guidelines in 2015. José Alejandro was an ad-hoc observer to APEC’s Privacy Subgroup and the OECD Working Party on Information Security and Privacy in the Digital Economy, a member of the Colombian OECD Accession Mission (privacy and digital economy), and served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Ibero-American Network of Data Protection (RIPD).

In April 2024, José Alejandro won the IAPP Privacy Vanguard Award for Latin America at the Global Privacy Summit in Washington, DC.
