CIPL’s Mark Smith Participates in the Global CBPR Workshop in Singapore

CIPL Participates in the Global CBPR Workshop in Singapore

At the end of May, CIPL Senior Manager of Privacy and Data Policy, Mark Smith represented CIPL at the Global CBPR Workshop hosted by the IMDA in Singapore.

Mark presented CIPL’s work on mapping data protection regimes to the Global CBPR, and he moderated a panel with Ibukunoluwa Owa CIPP/E (Nigeria), Ailana Linhares (Brazil), Prapanpong Khumon (Thailand), Bharat Gupta (India), and Khalid Al-Hashmi (Qatar) exploring the status of the mappings in their respective countries.

Following the workshop, the Global Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) Forum officially launched the Global CBPR and Global Privacy Recognition for Processors (PRP) certifications in early June. At CIPL, we are excited about the launch of these systems, which provide a multilateral, accountability-based solution for cross-border data transfers.
