CIPL Hosts Multistakeholder Dialogue on Age Assurance in Partnership with the WeProtect Global Alliance

CIPL-WeProtect Age Assurance Dialogue On Friday 13 June, CIPL partnered with the WeProtect Global Alliance to host a Multistakeholder Dialogue on Age Assurance – Workshop on Interoperability, hosted in Brussels.

As children and young people increasingly engage in the digital world, ensuring their safety and privacy online is a global priority. Governments, regulators, and service providers are turning to age assurance tools to manage age-appropriate access, but challenges remain.

This in-person workshop brought together policymakers, civil society, regulators, industry, and technical experts to explore how interoperable age assurance mechanisms can support better outcomes for minors while preserving user privacy and enabling innovation.

The discussions focused on:

  • Defining key elements for an interoperable age assurance framework;
  • Examining technical solutions, including age estimation and ID verification;
  • Identifying opportunities for alignment across jurisdictions and sectors.

Held under the Chatham House Rule, this workshop built on last year’s dialogue and aims to generate actionable insights to inform future work on trusted and effective age assurance practices.
