Harvey Jang

Harvey Jang is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Hinoki Consulting. With over 25 years of experience, Harvey specializes in integrating privacy, security, and AI governance directly into product development and operational workflows. He guides companies to leverage compliance as strategic, business enabling imperatives not just check-the-box exercises.

Prior to founding Hinoki Consulting, he served as Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, and Chief Privacy Officer at Cisco Systems. Over his career, Harvey has led privacy, security, AI, and corporate compliance for global tech companies, including McAfee, HP, and Symantec. He is recognized for his ability to translate complex international regulations—such as GDPR, CCPA, EU Data Act, and emerging AI frameworks—into actionable, scalable product features that balance cutting-edge innovation with digital trust.

Harvey serves on the Board of Directors for the IAPP and is an instructor for the Certified Information Privacy Professional US / EU / Technologist and AI Governance Professional. He is also a Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer and Certified Information Security Manager with ISACA. He holds a J.D., cum laude, from UC Law San Francisco and a B.A. in Economics and Social Psychology, magna cum laude, from UCLA.
