Maura LaGue

Maura is a Business Development and Communications Specialist at the Centre for Information Policy Leadership. She is a solutions-driven communications and business operations professional with extensive experience supporting legislators, senior government leaders, and nonprofit executives.

Maura previously served as a Special Assistant in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Trafficking in Persons, where she provides operational, administrative, and communications support to the Office of the Director and conducts research to inform strategic engagement initiatives. Prior to this, Maura worked with General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), where she supervised 10 staff supporting the Office on Trafficking in Persons. In this role, she led workflow optimization, strengthened internal communications, supported event planning, and advanced cross-division strategic initiatives.

Previously, Maura spent nearly a decade at Women In Government, a national nonprofit supporting women state legislators. As Managing Director, she led nationwide legislative outreach, cultivated strategic partnerships, and served as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors. She built leadership development pipelines, supported strategic planning, developed funding proposals, and monitored policy and election trends to highlight legislative achievements and encourage cross-state collaboration. Her earlier roles included Events Director—overseeing high-impact conferences and policy programs—and Office Manager, where she strengthened administrative, financial, and operational systems.

Maura is known for her ability to streamline operations, build strong stakeholder relationships, and support mission-driven work through exceptional organizational, analytical, and communications skills. She is passionate about creating effective systems, fostering collaboration, and driving initiatives that advance CIPL’s goals.
