José Alejandro Bermúdez

José Alejandro Bermúdez is Partner at Bermudez Durana Abogados (Colombia) and Managing Director, Latin America at Nymity. José Alejandro was the inaugural Deputy Superintendent for the Protection of Personal Data in Colombia where he charted a path for Latin American data protection as the promoter of the Colombian Accountability Guidelines published by the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC). As a member of the Governmental commission appointed to draft the Colombian Data Protection Law and its secondary regulations, José Alejandro helped shape the data protection regulatory landscape in Latin America. He was an ad-hoc observer to APEC's Privacy Subgroup and the OECD Working Party on Information Security and Privacy in the Digital Economy, a member of the Colombian OECD Accession Mission (privacy and digital economy), and served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Ibero-American Network of Data Protection (RIPD).
